-eGn- is dying. Any ideas to help?

Well, I'm sad to announce this, but last Wednesday (Christmas day, 2013), I kicked all of -eGn- members for their own good. My clan is dying. Most of them are not interested to come back to my clan. I don't want this clan die. I want this clan die with |-210|. Noturning inspired me for running this clan. He never gave up with |-210|. I want that way of running my clan. This is the first successful clan I ever ran.

I decided to run a re-tryouts for everyone in my clan. But only 2 people managed to come back to my clan.... I'm still asking iSpecYou for any members that wants to join.

For now, I want to ask any of you for ideas on how to get my clan back. I'm asking for help. Especially from noturning :P . Thanks |-210|.

  1. I don't think there is a formula that works, the best idea I can give is find a mate, if you have one (or better more) people in your clan who you just enjoy talking to then that is a start, matches aren't as common as they used to be and patience is needed, top this end you need to be able to just have a good time with your clan. If you havent got anyone to do this with, then i would suggest not starting a clan just yet, focus on playing with random partners, this way you gain more "contacts" in dp2 (more people to play with again in the future and people to talk to) and you hone your skills. Maybe even join a better ran clan (they can be hard to get into now though) learn how to play the game well and also how a clan is rrun, like i said i dont think anyone knows i think its just that people want to play with their mates and thats what keeps a clan together, its not the clan its the people, you would rather be in the worst clan with good mates than DR34M and have no one to speak to , this game is dying so beggers cant be choosers, I didnt see -eGn- much, (I think thats the time difference) but its sad to see them go.

Hahaha good luck there noturning! :P
And omni's got a point. He's smart though.
Sorry for my lack of intelligence in this post. ^^

  3. I'm glad that I inspired you with your clan (stan...anyone get it?...no? okay haha)

As you've pointed out yourself, Fussion, one of the most important things in running a long-term clan is persistence. You can't get yourself down when things aren't going great. There was a time when a lot of players left -210 and it was just omni and I left, essentially. We didn't let that get us down - we set ourselves a goal to get 2 members within 7 days. We got those 2 members, and then we set another goal of getting 2 more. When things are going rough, like they are right now, take stock of what you've got and set yourself small, achievable goals. A good first goal for you at this stage might be to get two new clan members within a fortnight.

This brings me to the more important point that omni touched on. You can have a clan with 150 members, but it's not really a true clan if none of them are active/interested in matching (cough :DB: =D). Whilst I take skill into consideration when I recruit, I also make a point of only getting players who I see online regularly. This will make all the difference - you want players like yourself - don't settle for anything less than active and enthusiastic players. It's better to have a small clan comprising a few active members then a large one full of inactive players.

The most important point of all: It's no fun running a clan all on your own. What got me through the tough times was that there was almost always a co-leader to help out. In the beginning I had heisenberg, then I had omni for a long time, and now I have lazers. All three have been excellent players and excellent leaders, and it's so much more enjoyable to run a clan when you're doing it together with another person. Find yourself a co-leader and the tough times will be much more bearable.

Omni hit the nail on the head when he said "its not the clan its the people,". You need to find yourself such people. You can either (a) meet them through pubbing or (my preference) (b) join another clan and become friends with the members. When that clan folds (which it almost certainly will within a month or two), you and one of the other members can start a new clan.

    Some more general tips:

    # If you're desperate for new members, it's okay to settle for those who aren't particularly skilled, providing that they are online frequently. If they play a lot, they will get better in time, and you'll have an active member that you can practice with. What I'm getting at is to be kind in your tryouts if you're having trouble finding people.

  4. # I wouldn't personally run re-tryouts for ex-members, although it does give an indication of commitment. I let all ex-members in to the clan without a tryout. I let Say and Matze back in to -210 without any tryout - I've seen them play, I don't need to trouble them with trying out again.

    # You're going to have trouble getting any established players (those who are known in the community) to join a relatively unknown clan. Although I've heard of -eGn- before, I don't really see the tag much when I'm playing. What I'm getting at is to start small and work your way up. Rome wasn't built in a day - if you try to rebuild your clan, you are likely going to have to go to pubs and ask players directly if they want to join. No one likes pub recruiting, but you won't have to do it for long - providing you can get the name out there.

    # A final thing - There is often a domino effect when a person leaves a clan. One person leaves, another goes as well, then another realises that two have left and they go themselves etc. etc. For example, a few months ago Matze left. Thai followed. Lazers also then left. This can all happen within the space of a few days. Why? People want to play with their friends. If their friends aren't in the clan, they won't want to join. If you can get just a few of your previous members to join, the rest will likely follow. Of course, it seems that you felt that these members were not active enough, so you might be better off starting from scratch.

I hope there is something of use in the above, I kind of just rambled on for a few paragraphs haha. Feel free to ask any follow-up questions and I'll do my best to field them.

  5. Oh, one more thing - I haven't seen you play, so I can't comment on your skills. Just know that people won't be interested in joining if they don't respect you as a player.

Fortunately, most players on public servers will think positively of you if you can maintain a reasonable position on the leaderboard. I know this all sounds stupid, but it's true. If you had two offers to join a clan - one from the guy at the top of the leaderboard, and another from the guy at the very bottom, which would you choose?

When I was pub recruiting, I would always ask people if they wanted to join at the very end of the game, when |-210|noturning was sitting at the very top of the leaderboard (just don't resort to spawnkilling or camping to get there!). It's not enough to get people to join, but you do want to come off as a good player when you're trying to convince people to join.

  6. About being the top on the leaderboard - this means DO NOT BE AN EPICFACE!

Nice, long points you've got there noturning.
By the way, I'm finishing and improving the new tournament website right now.

  7. Yeah, thanks for your help noturning! You really are a good leader..... and, LaZeRs experienced how I trained my members, but I kicked them all for lack of skill of listening. (those were my classmates, same age as mine, so they don't respect and treat me as a leader =P)

And noturning, the first time I play with you (you were not in -210 yet, your name was noturningback then, and I'm not in -eGn- yet) is that I am in the name of UNIDEN87, and I beat you on that map..... It is like a 1v2..... If you remember that, it's me, FusSioN. =)

  8. Haha, im sure one day you will have a clan to go to. Most people who still play this game have gone to a remaining clan, nowadays its so hard to start a clan because everyone is in one, and everyone who is good. So like noturning said you have to start small :P keep trying and you will get there but realistic also.
